
At least 10 people have died in the Indian state of Sikkim and 82 others, including 23 soldiers, are missing after torrential rains caused the Lonak glacial lake to overflow, resulting in devastating floods in the region.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), 40.9 mm of rain fell between Tuesday and Wednesday morning, five times the usual amount of 8.6 mm for this time of the year.
