Israel has said that evidence points to the Palestinian armed group, Islamic Jihad, being responsible for the October 17 blast at a hospital in Gaza City. But this group, which is smaller than the Hamas militant group that rules Gaza, has denied responsibility.
The blast at Al-Ahli hospital is believed to have killed hundreds of people. It raised anger among Arab states, and 22 of them represented at the United Nations called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The President of the United States, Joe Biden, during the visit to Israel on October 18, said that “based on what we have seen, it appears that [the explosion] was carried out by another team, not you”, addressing the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.
